About Us

The world of health information (internet, TV, magazines, books, etc.) can be a confusing place that is often uninformed, deceiving, biased and misleading. Information about health and food in the media is often controlled by the government and powerful corporations with the sole intention of profit gain, while fad diets are highly focused on weight loss and quick fixes rather than overall health and well-being. Thankfully, there is a lot of science-based, unbiased and reliable health information out there, but it can be incredibly overwhelming to wade through it all to determine what you should and should not believe.

The mission of Back to the Cutting Board is to demystify and interpret hot topics related to health in an unbiased manner using a variety of credible, scientific sources. It is a place to where readers will find reliable information related to nutrition, fitness, and well-being brought to them by nutrition experts themselves. Readers can feel confident in what they read and will find information presented in a simple, unique, understandable and memorable way!

We believe that the food we eat everyday and the way we treat our bodies can have a powerful impact on our health. However, we understand that life can get hectic and that health, nutrition, and fitness are often the last things on your mind which is exactly why we want to make it easy for you!  We want to provide the tools for living a happy, healthy life so that you can pursue your passions and goals successfully. Our hope is that our readers interact with us and with other readers to inspire motivation, positive thinking, and healthy habits that will stick with them for a lifetime. We are here to answer your questions and facilitate discussion, curiosity, and understanding in readers so let's go!

We both have a well-rounded and comprehensive background in science-based nutrition which has made us skilled at interpreting multiple scientific sources and instilled in us a passion to share what we know with others - you! Adriane has Bachelor's degrees in Dietetics and Biology from Purdue University (in Indiana) and is currently at Louisiana Tech University pursuing a Master's degree in Applied Dietetics and completing a dietetic internship. Katie has Bachelor's degrees in Nutrition and Biology from Miami University (in Ohio) and is currently at Bradley University (in Illinois) completing a dietetic internship. Being in a dietetic internship basically means that we're Registered Dietitians (RDs) in training. You can trust us!
